Earth, Fire, Leather: The World of Guidi

There are few ateliers in contemporary fashion that operate with the quiet conviction of Guidi. Founded in 1989 by Pier Giorgio Guidi in the leather-working heartland of Pescia, Tuscany, the house has spent over three decades refining a singular vision: that clothing should carry the weight of time.

Guidi's process begins not with a sketch, but with material. Hides are sourced, tanned, and treated using methods that predate industrialisation — vegetable tanning, horse leather, hand-dyeing in small batches. The result is garments that arrive already aged, already marked by the hands that made them. They do not simulate wear; they begin where most garments end.

A Philosophy of Impermanence

What distinguishes Guidi from the broader landscape of artisanal fashion is its relationship with imperfection. Asymmetric closures, uneven hems, surfaces that mottle and shift with body heat - these are not flaws to be corrected but intentions to be honoured. Each piece is understood as a living object, one that will continue to evolve with its wearer over years, even decades.

This is slow fashion in its most radical form: not a marketing position, but a material reality.

The Palette

Guidi works almost exclusively in a spectrum of blacks, off-whites, and deep earth tones, colours that recede from spectacle and invite contemplation. On the body, these pieces function less as statements and more as presences. They occupy space differently.

At ORIMONO

We carry a curated selection of Guidi across footwear and bags - chosen for their dialogue with the broader ORIMONO edit. These are not easy garments. They ask something of the wearer: patience, commitment, a willingness to be changed by what you wear.
